Recently I faced a problem with macOS. Whenever I open any PDF file in Mac Acrobat Reader, it opens a blank page, and I couldn’t see any words in it.
I tried to find a solution on the internet and followed all the instructions given in the forum. But I couldn’t understand why those instructions are not working. I face the same problem every time. I thought there is a problem with my Mac system.
Then I tried to open PDF files in other applications like iBooks, Quick Look, etc. But still I faced the same problem in all applications. I also tried to change the default PDF reader in Mac. But all my attempts were failed.
I was about to give up, Then I found an answer for opening any PDF instead of Acrobat Reader, to open PDF in Preview, and Guess what when I used Preview, almost all my problems solved within a minute. So, I decided to shift to preview viewer PDF reader.
Now, In this blog, I am going to tell you how you can use Preview instead of Acrobat Reader to open any PDF file.
About preview PDF
Preview is a lightweight PDF viewer application developed by Apple Inc. Preview is bundled with macOS. Preview supports most PDF features such as PDF metadata, bookmarks, Digital Signatures, and attachments. Unlike Adobe Acrobat, it does not support forms, JavaScript, or encryption. Preview uses OS X’s Quartz rendering engine, just like Safari and Mail, which enables it to display complex PDF documents faster than many competing products.
Why it’s important to read PDFs
Many people avoid PDFs and don’t even know why. Reading a PDF is as easy as reading a Word document. The only difference is that you cannot change the formatting. But that’s not a problem if you don’t want to.
If you have a PDF, you can read it on a computer, a tablet, and even your phone. And you can highlight, bookmark, and email it to someone else. You can even change the font size and make it easier to read. The only thing you can’t do is change the layout or format of the content.
PDF, or Portable Document Format, has been around since 1993, and it is still going strong.PDF is the most popular file format for documents.
Why use Preview instead of Acrobat Reader?
The primary difference between Preview and Adobe Acrobat Reader is that Preview is a native app, while Acrobat Reader is a browser plugin. Preview can open PDF files without installing any additional software.
Preview is an application that comes included with Mac OS X. Not only is it a full-featured PDF reader, but preview also has some features that Acrobat Reader doesn’t have, such as the ability to zoom in to a PDF file using pinch-to-zoom gestures.
Why are people moving away from Acrobat Reader?
In recent years, Apple has made the switch from the popular Acrobat Reader to its alternative, Apple Preview.
Some main reasons for the switch have to do with the new features that Acrobat Reader doesn’t offer. With Apple Preview, you’re able to see two pages at the same time, ideal for reading PDFs.
You can also edit a PDF using Apple Preview and add notes to it. Using Acrobat Reader, there is no way to zoom in on a PDF. This is a major problem for the visually impaired and anyone else who needs to zoom in on a PDF to read it.
How to Open PDFs on a Mac, iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch with Preview.
