Email Apple ID Password Recovery:

- Go to your Apple ID account page and click “Forgot Apple ID or password.”

- If you have an account with security questions set up, you can select “Answer security questions” and follow the rest of the steps.
- To get an email instead, select “Get an email.” To reset your password, use the email that we send to your primary or rescue email address. Didn’t get the email?
- If asked for a Recovery Key, use the steps for two-factor authentication or two-step verification instead.
Apple ID Recovery by two-Factor Authentication:
you need to visit https://iforgot.apple.com and enter your trusted phone number in this method. And then, follow the on-screen instructions displayed on the device and finally change your password to a new one.
On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch:
- Make sure that your device has iOS 10 or later.
- Go to Settings.
- Tap [your name] > Password & Security > Change Password
- Then follow the onscreen steps to update your password. For iOS 10.2 or earlier, tap iCloud > [your name] > Password & Security > Change Password, then follow the onscreen steps.
You might not be signed in to iCloud. Open Settings and tap “Sign in to your [device]” > “Don’t have an Apple ID or forgot it,” then follow the onscreen steps. For iOS 10.2 or earlier, tap iCloud > Forgot Apple ID or Password, then follow the onscreen steps.

On your Mac With macOS Catalina:
- Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Apple ID.
- Click Password & Security.
- If you’re asked to enter your Apple ID password, click “Forgot Apple ID or password” and follow the onscreen instructions. You can skip the final steps below.
- Click Change Password. Before you can reset your Apple ID password, you’ll be required to enter the password you used to unlock your Mac.

With macOS Mojave, High Sierra, or Sierra:
- Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click iCloud.
- Choose Account Details.
- If you’re asked to enter your Apple ID password, click “Forgot Apple ID or password” and follow the onscreen instructions. You can skip the final steps below.
- Click Security > Reset Password. Before you can reset your Apple ID password, you’ll be required to enter the password you used to unlock your Mac.
Two-Step Verification with Apple Recovery Key:
if in case, every method mentioned above fails, you can dig up your Apple recovery key and recovery your Apple ID.
- Go to your Apple ID account page and click “Forgot Apple ID or password.”If asked to confirm your phone number, use steps for two-factor authentication instead.
- Enter your Apple ID, select the option to reset your password, then choose Continue.
- Enter your Recovery Key for two-step verification.
- Choose a trusted device. They will send your device a verification code.
- Enter the verification code.
- Create a new password, then select Reset Password.
After you reset your password, you’ll be asked to sign in again with your new password. You also might need to update your password in Settings on your devices.

Recover your Apple password
- The first step is to open iForgot. Go to https://iforgot.apple.com/ in your computer’s browser. This is Apple’s password reset service.
- Then enter your Apple ID email address. In the “name@example.com” text field near the middle of the page, type in the email address that you use to sign in to your Apple ID account.
- And then click on continue option. It is present at the bottom of the page.
- Now you have to enter your phone number. You have to type the same phone number that you used to set up your Apple ID.
- Click on the continue option.
- Now, look for the notification which will appear on your device. This notification will give you instructions for allowing you to use your iPhone or Mac computer for resetting your Apple ID password.
- Now, unlock your iPhone. And if your iPhone was locked then, unlock it.
- Tap on allow when prompted. By doing so, it will open the iCloud password portion of the Settings app. If in case, for some reason this doesn’t work then, open Settings and tap your name and password and security, and tap “change password” before proceeding.
- Enter your iPhone’s passcode. Type in the passcode that you use to unlock your iPhone.
- Finally, enter your new password. And type the password that you want to use for your Apple ID account into the top text field, then re-type it into the text field below the first one.
- Tap on change option which is there on the upper-right corner of the screen.
- Now, wait for the password to finish integrating. Which can take several minutes, and you may be asked to re-enter your password during this process. Your password has successfully been updated once you see the Change Password text appear near the top of the screen.
If you can’t get the Apple Support App
If you borrow a friend or family member’s iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch and they can’t download the Apple Support app, follow these steps to reset your Apple ID password:
- Open the Find My iPhone app. You need iOS 9 through 12 to use Find My iPhone.
- When a Sign In screen appears, make sure the Apple ID field is empty. If you see someone else’s user name, erase it.
- Tap Forgot Apple ID or Password, then follow the onscreen steps.

- Then you have to log in to your Apple ID with your username and password.
- Now, it will ask you to verify your credentials. You can verify either by using a phone number or any device.
- Then go for the ‘security’ option.
- The next step is to select the option ‘Replace Lost Key’.
- Now, you will be directed to a simple setup process to generate a new Apple Recovery Key. Follow the process and you can either print the recovery key or write it down and place it in a secured location once you get your recovery key.
- After that, you will have to re-type the recovery key so that you can confirm that the Apple Recovery Key is working.
